As the opposition intensifies its criticism of the Election Commission regarding the thorough review of the voter list in Bihar, the Commission has investigated the claims made by certain state leaders and dismissed them as baseless.
Manoj Kumar Jha, a Member of Parliament from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), expressed on social media that the Election Commission failed to provide a meeting time for discussions on the special review. In response, the Commission clarified that he is not an authorized representative to request such a meeting.
The Election Commission stated that it had recently requested party leaders to share names for discussions on various issues, but the RJD did not submit Jha's name as their official representative.
For the past two days, the Election Commission has been utilizing the hashtag #ECIFactCheck to counter any misinformation regarding the review process.
Additionally, the Commission refuted claims made by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav that millions of voters in Bihar would be disenfranchised due to the thorough review.
The Commission noted that it has received nearly four crore application forms distributed to voters.
